I am a third year student at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden. During my first 2½ year of studies I attended the department of Mechanical engineering were I learned the basics in technology. At present I am pursuing studies at the department of Industrial Economics and Management. To keep in touch with some technological problem solving, I am also pursuing a few subjects at the department of Manufacturing Systems.
During my second year at KTH I was able to intensify my studies and therefore collected 57 study credits (an average year is 40 credits). To keep the same pace this following year I am at present studying Economics at the University of Uppsala beside my ongoing studies at KTH.
I did my military service at the Swedish athlete platoon in Kungsängen. During this period I learned how to work, lead and co-operate under hard pressure. I was also the soldiers representative, to act in the interest of the soldiers in meetings with officers.
During last year I have had several project assignments for Gartner Group AB involving graphic display of statistic material for reports and OH presentations.
My great interest in life is track and fields in general and 400 meter hurdles in particular. At the age of sixteen I chose to study at Lidingö Athletic High School. The choice involved a move away from my parental home which made me self governed and mature at an early age.
During my 2½ year at KTH I have continued my athletic career and furthermore been chosen to represent the youth athletes of today in the Stockholm Athletic Association Youth Committee. I have been able to combine education, training, other commitments and friends thanks to my self discipline and my ability to keep many things going at the same time.
I also love to travel. My athletic career have taken me to many different sites mostly in Europe for competitions and training camps despite that my best traveling experience is from Indonesia, were me and a friend spent eight weeks last year, traveling from village to village in the rural rain forest areas of Java.
In the future I would like to have work that allows me to travel, meet and inspire other people. To increase my chances of securing an employment as such I will this autumn be a member of a student exchange program with Russia, wherefore I am at present studying Russian besides my ordinary studies.
With this letter I hope to have displayed a broad base of experience and a sufficient level of competence. I also tried to motivate why I want a summer internship and I hope I will be granted an interview.
